The Color of Justice

A police officer has been charged with raping a woman during a traffic stop. Could that be yet another example of the abuse of power by the police? Will this alleged tragedy lead to another woman being shamed for reporting an atrocious act of violence? Will she be blamed for “not dressing appropriately or keeping her legs together?” Recent events could lead to this assumption.

Yet, while the woman’s continental ancestry has not been revealed as of yet, the police officer happened to be a black man.

Numerous comments condemn the officer’s behavior, demanding Justice following his horrific act of violence.

While the results of the investigation have to be awaited, I wonder, if I am the only one who has a real uneasy feeling (to say the least) about this occurrence. Similar allegations come to mind. Is this just another time where a black man gets used to further support the long standing, racist and continued justification for injustice against minorities?

Or, will justice be served (in this case), and I am just being irrational based on the situation on hand?
